The Goal

Here is a video and article about the importance of Language Survey. The video itself talks more about the importance of doing translation period, so I'm gonna give you a run down.

Language Survey is the first step to translation. A surveyor goes out first to assess certain things about the language. Some of those things are similar to how urgent the need for a translation is, how much influence the language has, demographics of the people who speak it, etc. One a survey has been done, organizations such as Wycliffe, SIL, Pioneers, and other organizations that want to do language work know just how big the project will be and what tools they may need. Not doing language survey is like walking on the edge of a cliff blindfolded.

If you have any other questions about language survey, please ask me. :) Anything I'm not able to answer now, I'll hopefully be able to answer in the next year. ;)

Prepost

Hello, Blogspot.

It's been awhile since we've hung out! I'm beginning the process of becoming a member with Wycliffe Bible Translators. One of the things my new 'job' or 'process' will entail is a monthly, bi-yearly, or some sort of update e-mail. But I don't want to e-mail everyone over every little thing that happens and there may be people on my e-mail list who don't know my testimony or are confused about what exactly I'm doing etc.

My purpose for this blog is to fill in on a more regular basis what's going on as well as providing more of a history of me. There's nothing spectacular about me. I'm a short, blonde from a common family in the state of Indiana. I never dreamed I would be on the path that I am now.

Without further ado, I'll begin this blog that will be about my ministry with the story of how God pursued my heart, broke it for Him, and gave me a heart to pursue other hearts that He pursues. May this blog bring Him honor and glory.
